Investigation Methods
We deploy a comprehensive range of geotechnical investigation methods tailored to each project's specific requirements, water depth, and soil conditions. Our approach combines proven field techniques with rigorous laboratory testing to deliver the complete subsurface picture.
Offshore Investigation
- Seabed Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) — Our deepwater CPT units (2.5 to 10 tonnes) provide continuous in-situ soil strength profiles. Rated to 2,000m water depth with 50kN and 100kN thrust configurations.
- Jumbo Piston Coring — Recovers up to 30m of undisturbed 4-inch diameter soil cores at depths exceeding 2,000m, essential for deep stratigraphy characterization.
- Vibro Core Assembly — Efficient shallow sampling to 6m sub-seabed for cable route surveys, pipeline pre-installation studies, and nearshore environmental assessments.
- Neptune 3000 Seabed CPT — Advanced system providing high-resolution piezocone data with real-time transmission to the surface vessel.
Onshore Investigation
- Rotary Drilling — Diamond and tri-cone bit drilling through soil and rock formations for borehole sampling and in-situ testing.
- Rock Core Drilling — NQ, HQ, and PQ core sizes for detailed geological assessment of foundation zones and construction sites.
- Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) — In-borehole dynamic testing for soil density and consistency classification.
- Pressuremeter & Vane Shear Testing — In-situ measurement of soil deformation characteristics and undrained shear strength.
Laboratory Testing
All field samples undergo comprehensive laboratory testing programs including classification tests, consolidation, triaxial compression, direct shear, and chemical analysis — providing the engineering parameters required for safe, cost-effective foundation design.
Deliverables
We provide comprehensive geotechnical interpretive reports including borehole logs, CPT profiles, laboratory test results, engineering design parameters, soil-structure interaction analysis, and foundation design recommendations — delivered in both digital and hard-copy formats.
